Electronic Security Industry Deemed “Essential” During COVID-19 Pandemic
Pursuant to Governor Henry McMaster’s Executive Orders (2020-17 & 2020-18), only those businesses deemed essential may remain open during the State of Emergency due to COVID-19. The electronic security industry has been deemed essential based on these orders. Employees who are critical to the minimum basic operations of the business have been instructed to comply with social distancing rules/requirements in the jurisdiction, as well as other safety and health precautions.

The South Carolina Electronic Security Association, a non-profit 501(c) 6 trade association, represents, promotes and enhances the growth and professional development of the electronic life safety, security, and integrated systems industry. The SCESA brings together key individuals from top companies representing five industry components - sales, manufacturing, installation, service, and monitoring.
Since 1983, SCESA has represented the most respected providers of fire, burglar and security related systems. SCESA is committed to the success of all its members and to the increase of professionalism in the security field. Through networking, training, seminars and up-to-date industry standards, we seek to raise the bar for the entire group.
Your SCESA Board continues to work diligently on the legislative front as we push for laws and regulations that benefit our members, the alarm industry and the consumer of our state. Our efforts include defending against burdensome regulation and legislation that could be detrimental to us and the industry.
Training Class Registration
The Certified Alarm Technician Level 1 Course is a 22-hour course required for licensure in South Carolina. This 22-hour course provides the knowledge necessary to perform entry-level responsibilities within the many facets of the electronic life safety and security industry.This fundamental and essential course is required by dozens of states, local licensing authorities and regulators as a prerequisite for performing security integration work.
The cost for this class is $350/person (members) and $550/person (non-members) and the cost includes the NTS Level I book and examination.
